1. Who We Are

Nurturnal operates a plant community platform that includes a public marketing website, account registration and sign-in, plant collection tracking, wishlist and matching features, memorial and care-tracking tools, and public sharing features for profiles and collections.

If you have privacy questions or want to exercise your rights, contact us at hello@nurturnal.com.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, information created through your use of Nurturnal, and limited technical information needed to run the service.

  • Account and sign-in data: your name, username, email address, phone number, password, email verification status, and account identifiers linked to Google or Facebook sign-in when you choose those options.
  • Profile data: your bio, avatar, location, public profile setting, and related profile preferences.
  • Plant and care data: your collection entries, plant notes, health status, location assignments, care history such as watering and fertilizing records, and memorial garden records.
  • Wishlist and matching data: wishlist items, sharing preferences, match activity, and communications or request details used to coordinate cutting exchanges.
  • Uploaded content: avatar images, collection images, and plant photos you upload to Nurturnal.
  • Public-sharing data: information you choose to make public, such as a public profile, available-for-cutting plants, and collection details shown on shared public pages.
  • Plant identification submissions: images you choose to submit for plant identification and the identification results returned to you.
  • Device, usage, and log data: IP address, browser or app details, device and operating system information, page requests, and similar technical logs used for security, reliability, and analytics.
  • Collection view tracking: when someone views a public collection page, we store the viewer's IP address and time of view so we can count views and de-duplicate repeated views from the same IP address.

3. How We Use Information

  • Provide and operate the Nurturnal website, app, API, and account features.
  • Create and manage accounts, authenticate users, and support email verification and account security.
  • Let you build a profile, manage your collection, track plant care, maintain wishlists, and use memorial features.

  • Process and store uploaded images and optimize them for display.
  • Send service-related communications such as verification, account, security, and support messages.
  • Support plant identification requests you initiate.
  • Monitor usage, troubleshoot problems, prevent abuse, and improve reliability, performance, and security.
  • Measure engagement with the website and public sharing features.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms and community rules.

4. Social Sign-In

You can sign in to Nurturnal using email and password or by using Google or Facebook. If you choose social sign-in, we receive information from that provider, such as your name, email address, and provider account identifier, and may receive profile image information depending on the provider and your settings with that provider.

Your use of Google or Facebook sign-in is also subject to the privacy policies and terms of those providers.

5. Public and Private Information

Nurturnal includes features that let you share parts of your account publicly. When you turn on a public profile, parts of your profile such as your name, username, bio, avatar, and collection summary may be visible to others.

When you mark a plant as available for cutting or otherwise use public sharing features, collection details such as plant name, images, notes, care-related details, and view counts may become visible on public pages. Information that is not intentionally shared publicly, such as your email address, remains private within Nurturnal except as needed to operate the service or as described in this policy.

Matching and exchange features may involve sharing limited contact or coordination details with other users so a cutting exchange can happen.

6. Cookies, Local Storage, and Similar Technologies

Nurturnal uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, secure the service, and understand how the website and app are used. We may also use analytics tools to understand traffic and product usage.

Today, our marketing website uses Google Analytics. We may introduce or change analytics or similar tools over time as Nurturnal evolves.

7. When We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information in limited situations, including the following:

  • With service providers: providers that help us host, store, secure, deliver, and support Nurturnal, including cloud hosting, CDN, object storage, image storage, database, and email delivery providers.
  • With Google and Facebook: when you use those services to sign in.
  • With PlantNet: when you submit plant images for identification.
  • With other users: when you make your profile or collections public, mark plants available for sharing, participate in matching, or request or coordinate a cutting exchange.
  • For legal or safety reasons: if reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate fraud or abuse, or enforce our policies.
  • As part of a business change: if Nurturnal is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or sale of assets.

8. Data Retention

We generally keep your information while your account is active and for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, maintain security and backups, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and comply with legal obligations.

Public-sharing records, support records, logs, and security data may be retained for shorter or longer periods depending on operational need. If you close your account or ask us to delete data, we may retain limited information where reasonably necessary for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or recordkeeping purposes.

9. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, update, delete, or request a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing.

  • You can update parts of your profile information from your account settings.
  • You can control whether your profile is public and which plants are available for public sharing.
  • You can request deletion or account closure by contacting hello@nurturnal.com.
  • If we introduce marketing emails, you will be able to opt out from those communications.
  • You can usually control cookies through your browser or device settings, though some features may not work properly without necessary storage technologies.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to help protect personal information. No method of transmission over the internet or method of storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children's Privacy

Nurturnal is not intended for young children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Nurturnal without appropriate permission, contact us and we will review the request.
